From what age can a child ski?
It depends on the resort, which is why we publish each garden's age exactly as it gives it. As a guide to what you will meet: many gardens take children indoors well before the age at which they let them out on the snow, and that is the most common confusion.
Lessons, or teach them yourself?
With small children, lessons. Not for technique but for patience and hours: the instructor has the group, the games and the rhythm, and you get to ski meanwhile. Every resort with a linked school has its lessons page.
Do I need to book the snow garden?
At Christmas, New Year and half-term, yes, and well ahead: places are genuinely limited because of instructor-to-child ratios. Outside those dates there is usually room on the day.
Which resort in France is best with kids?
We give no ranking. We give the three figures that decide — snow garden and its age, easy pistes, base altitude — and every family weighs them differently: a three-year-old is not two nine-year-olds who already ski down.
Is children's gear rented the same way?
Yes, and book it early: children's sizes are the first to run out at weekends. It is booked by height and weight, not by age.
