Canada Ski Resort Opening Dates for the 2026/27 Season

Canada announces its season differently from the United States: several resorts publish both ends of the winter in advance, and the Rockies open early. This is where the 14 Canadian resorts on Caranva stand as of September 17, 2026, taken from each resort's own pages or from its group's release.

Resorts with a published opening day

• Mount Norquay (Alberta) — opens November 1, 2026, closes April 18, 2027. Published by Mount Norquay, on its lift-ticket page. The resort calls the 2026/27 season dates tentative.
• Lake Louise Ski Resort (Alberta) — opens November 6, 2026, closes May 2, 2027. Published by Lake Louise, on its own home page.
• Whistler Blackcomb (British Columbia) — opens November 20, 2026, with no closing date published. Published by Vail Resorts, in its August 18 opening-date release.
• Sun Peaks Resort (British Columbia) — opens November 21, 2026, closes April 4, 2027. Published by Sun Peaks, on its trail-map and stats page.
• SilverStar Mountain Resort (British Columbia) — opens November 27, 2026, closes April 4, 2027. Published by SilverStar, on its hours-of-operation page.
• Panorama Mountain Resort (British Columbia) — opens December 4, 2026, closes April 11, 2027. Published by Panorama, on its mountain-stats page.

Mount Norquay opens first, on November 1, and calls its own dates tentative. Lake Louise runs the longest published season of the group: November 6 to May 2. Whistler Blackcomb's November 20 comes from Vail Resorts' August 18 release, the same one that set the US dates.

Resorts that publish a season window, not a day

• Banff Sunshine Village (Alberta) — early November 2026 to late May 2027, per Banff Sunshine, on its season-pass benefits page.
• Big White (British Columbia) — late November to mid-April, per Big White, on its mountain-statistics page.
• Mont-Sainte-Anne (Québec) — end of November to mid-April, weather permitting, per Mont-Sainte-Anne, on its mountain-statistics page.
• Fernie Alpine Resort (British Columbia) — early December to mid-April, per Fernie, on its mountain-stats page.

A window is what these resorts publish, so a window is what we print. Banff Sunshine, for instance, states its season runs from early November 2026 to late May 2027 on its season-pass benefits page, which is the longest stated season in the country.

No 2026/27 date published yet

• Revelstoke Mountain Resort (British Columbia) — we found no 2026/27 opening date published by the resort when we checked on September 17, 2026.
• Kicking Horse Mountain Resort (British Columbia) — we found no 2026/27 opening date published by the resort when we checked on September 17, 2026.
• Red Mountain Resort (British Columbia) — we found no 2026/27 opening date published by the resort when we checked on September 17, 2026.
• Mont Tremblant (Québec) — we found no 2026/27 opening date published by the resort when we checked on September 17, 2026.

That is an absence on our side as much as theirs: it means we found nothing published, not that the resort has ruled out announcing a date. We will update this page as each one publishes.

Planning a trip to the Canadian Rockies or BC

The early half of the season is concentrated in Alberta and the BC interior: Norquay, Lake Louise, Sun Peaks and SilverStar are all spinning before December, while Panorama waits until December 4 and Fernie describes early December as its start. Whistler sits in between, on November 20.

Each resort page on Caranva carries the trail map, the official snow report and webcams: start at Whistler Blackcomb, Lake Louise, Sun Peaks or Banff Sunshine. Rental is listed for Whistler, Banff, Sun Peaks and Mont-Tremblant — all of it at ski rental in Canada.
