Big Sky is set to open on November 25, 2026. Here is what Big Sky (Montana) has actually published for the 2026/27 season — the dates, the terrain and where its own snow report and webcams live — with nothing filled in where the resort has stayed silent.

When Big Sky opens in 2026/27

November 25, 2026 — published by Big Sky Resort, on its season-pass page. Plus bonus Friday-to-Sunday weekends on April 16-18 and 23-25, conditions permitting.

It also publishes a closing date, which is unusual in North America: April 11, 2027.

Every figure above is one Big Sky publishes itself; where the resort does not publish something, we leave the line out rather than fill it in. Base and summit are the lowest and highest lift-served points of the whole resort — at a multi-mountain resort they can belong to different peaks, so the gap between them is not the vertical drop of any single run. How the terrain splits by ability

Big Sky grades its terrain as Beginner 21%, Intermediate 15%, Advanced-Intermediate 14%, Advanced 31%, Expert 11%, Extreme 8%. Those are the resort's own categories: North America grades by difficulty relative to the mountain, so an "advanced" run here is not the same thing as a red run in the Alps.
