Group ski trip to El Tarter

Grandvalira - Canillo · 80 km · 1710–2560 m · 27 lifts

Where a group sleeps in El Tarter

El Tarter is the quiet village between Soldeu and Canillo: three- and four-star half-board hotels two minutes from the gondola and apartments for groups of friends or families, slightly cheaper than Soldeu. It is the base for groups that want to ski Grandvalira without the Pas de la Casa nightlife.

How the group gets to El Tarter

Three hours from Barcelona via La Seu d'Urgell, Encamp and Canillo; the coach drops off at the gondola. From Toulouse, a little under three hours via Pas de la Casa.

Skiing El Tarter as a group

The gondola goes up to Riba Escorxada, home to one of Grandvalira's best beginner areas and the ski school, with wide, gentle slopes to start on. Those who already ski continue towards Soldeu and the rest of the area and return via El Tarter's blue runs at the end of the day. The snowpark is here too for the snowboarders in the group.

After skiing in El Tarter

Quiet: dinner at the hotel or in the village's few restaurants, and Soldeu five minutes away by car or coach for those who want to go out. Suits a company or club trip more than a stag do.

Questions about group trips to El Tarter

How much does a group ski trip to El Tarter cost?

It depends on the number of people, the dates and whether the group sleeps at the resort or in the village. We send a per-person quote for El Tarter with accommodation, lift pass, lessons, equipment and coach itemised, so you decide what goes into the shared price. We don't publish one price because it would be made up.

Is there a group rate on the El Tarter lift pass?

Resorts apply group rates above a certain number of people, with conditions that change every season. With the number of skiers and the dates we tell you which rate El Tarter applies and arrange it; the group only confirms the final number.

How do we pay for the trip to El Tarter if everyone wants to pay their own share?

With a group code: each person books their own equipment and lift pass for the same dates and pays online, and the shop sees a single group booking. The hotel and coach are secured with a group deposit and the balance under the accommodation's conditions.

What if some of the group have never skied?

We book them beginner equipment and a two-hour group lesson on the first morning in El Tarter. On day two they ski a blue run with the others. Anyone who prefers not to ski gets the same hotel and coach without lift pass or equipment.

How far ahead should we book a group in El Tarter?

For 20 or more people midweek, one or two months is usually enough. For a weekend between January and March, a bank holiday or more than 50 people, secure the accommodation in October or November: hotels with room for a large group in El Tarter sell out before single rooms do.
