Encamp is Grandvalira's budget base: two- and three-star half-board hotels and lots of apartments, at valley-town prices rather than resort prices, with the Funicamp in the middle of town. For a student or club group on a tight budget, it has the most beds for the least money.

How the group gets to Encamp

Under three hours from Barcelona via La Seu d'Urgell: it is the first access to Grandvalira from Spain. Andorra la Vella is ten minutes by bus for shopping and Caldea.

Skiing Encamp as a group

The Funicamp is a six-kilometre gondola that climbs from the town to Els Cortals in about twenty minutes and drops the group in the middle of the area, linked to Grau Roig and Pas de la Casa. There are no runs down to the town: you ride the Funicamp up and down, which is handy for a group because everyone returns to the same point.

After skiing in Encamp

Encamp is quiet; the nightlife is in Andorra la Vella and Escaldes, ten minutes away, with their shops, Caldea and restaurants for the group dinner. It is the combination groups want when they want to ski Grandvalira and sleep cheaply.
